• Oral interpretation at IEP team meetings: Please note that per REF-1596.11 Oral Interpretation at an Individualized Education Program (IEP) Team Meeting, issued by the Division of Special Education, Principals must make every effort to have appropriate bilingual (qualified by District standards) school site personnel trained, or otherwise eligible, to provide oral interpretation at IEP team meetings. Principals are also responsible for sending appropriate classified bilingual (qualified by District standards) school site personnel to the District’s IEP Oral Interpretation Training. Principals are required to complete and submit the School Roster of Staff Eligible to Interpret at IEP Team Meetings to the Division of Special Education by October 16 of each school year. • Oral Interpretation Training: Participation in the Oral Interpretation at IEP Team Meetings training, conducted by the Division of Special Education, requires pre-registration through MyPLN. Enrollees must have their site administrator’s approval to enroll and attend the training. The objective of the training is to provide participants with resources, tools, and knowledge to interpret at IEP team meetings. Meeting participants will gain awareness of the IEP process and procedures; be familiar with the IEP document and the various sections; be knowledgeable of the protocol for oral interpretation, be familiar with the technical terminology, and practice interpretation and sight translation. • Written translation of IEP and related documents: Please see the link below for REF-6349.2 Submitting Requests for Written Translation of Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Related Documents, issued by the Division of Special Education. The purpose of this Reference Guide is to inform school sites and District offices of the process to follow to submit a request for a written translation of an IEP document and/or related documents. Information regarding the translation of Section 504 Plans is also provided.
Note: Translation requests for IEP-related assessment reports are made through the District Translations Unit forms and procedures. Only Microsoft Word documents can be accepted.
As a result of budget cuts and staff having changed to B basis, we can't
guarantee the date when we will translate your assessment. You can still fill out
a due date on our request form, but just be aware that
we might not be able to meet your deadline.
